The updated version of the 2024 Tesla Model 3, previously launched in European, Middle Eastern, and Chinese markets, is now also available in North America. This model, known by the codename "Highland" during development, features some significant changes compared to the previous version of Tesla's basic electric sedan.

From an external perspective, the distinctive front nose cone has been removed and replaced with a sleeker hood and lower-profile headlights compared to the previous model. Tesla claims that this new design is "optimized for maximum aerodynamics," which should translate to increased range. Additionally, two new color options are available: Stealth Gray and Ultra Red.

The new 2024 Model 3 is currently the only one listed for ordering in Tesla's configurator, and, as buyers in other markets have found, there are only two versions available instead of three: a Long Range AWD with dual motors or the less expensive Rear-Wheel Drive version. The option to order the Performance model, previously the flagship, is no longer available for the time being.

The 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range advertises an estimated EPA range of up to 341 miles, an increase from its predecessor's 333 miles, while the rear-wheel-drive version is still rated at 272 miles.

Both versions maintain the same starting price as the previous year, but there is another change. Tesla's website specifications indicate a maximum speed of 125 mph for both versions of the new 2024 Model 3, whereas the 2023 rear-wheel-drive model reached 140 mph, the Long Range went up to 145 mph, and the Performance model could reach up to 162 mph.

Improvements listed by Tesla for the new model include new acoustic glass for a quieter cabin, improved ride quality with updated suspension tuning (potentially important), "more sophisticated" interior materials, ventilated seats, customizable ambient lighting, a brighter central touchscreen display with slimmer bezels and improved contrast, and an upgraded audio system with up to 17 speakers.
